The entertainment industry was stunned when CBS announced in July that the liberal-leaning "Late Show with Stephen Colbert" would end in 2026.

The Media Research Center, a conservative watchdog group, clocked that 92% of jokes told on the six late-night shows were aimed at conservatives.
