In September, ABC temporarily suspended “Jimmy Kimmel Live” after FCC Chairman Brendan Carr threatened regulatory action against ABC and Disney in the wake of a joke Kimmel made about Trump’s response to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Trump then suggested Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon should be the next television hosts to go.

David Letterman revealed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that he was recently mistaken for Dick Van Dyke while shopping at a farmer’s market.

As complimentary as Letterman was in his view of current late night comedians like Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers, he also admitted he was "grateful" to no longer be on the air with Trump's regular attacks on the longtime TV programs.

Worth noting here is that Jimmy Kimmel's high-end demographic totals were likely fueled by the response to his ABC suspension over comments made in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk's shooting. That took place in mid-September, and his return episode a week later earned record-setting numbers for Kimmel.
