BROKEN ARROW — Minnie Hampton, a World War II veteran who served as a teletype operator with American forces in Europe, died Monday. She was 95. A burial with full military honors is set for 10 a.m.
As her ship pulled away, putting more distance between her and the only home she’d ever known in Oklahoma, Minnie Hampton couldn’t help admiring how smooth the water was in New York Harbor.
